Men's Lacrosse

men's lacrosse

The Xavier men’s lacrosse team is a group of dedicated group of students committed to playing and enjoying the game of lacrosse. Founded in the early 1990s, the lacrosse team has since been an active member on Xavier’s campus. The team is enrolled in the National Club Lacrosse League (NCLL) and competes with teams from around Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and more. Some teams that we play include the University of Cincinnati, Ohio University, the University of Kentucky, Marshall University, and more.

As a club team at Xavier, we believe the most important focus should be pure enjoyment of the game. Not restricted or motivated by varsity expectation, the men’s lacrosse team is able to set its own standards, and propel itself to success with the sheer enthusiasm and drive of its members.

The goal of the men’s lacrosse team is progress. After returning to the field this year following several less than idyllic seasons, the team put forth an admirable effort, fielding 32 players, the highest number it has seen in over five years, and the first ever hosting of a tournament on Xavier’s campus, the Bischoff-LaRocca Spring Classic. Six teams participated in the classic and it is expected that more will follow in the years to come. The team also travels to games and tournaments, as well as hosts them on Xavier’s campus.

Overall, the experience of playing lacrosse for Xavier is more than the opportunity to play a wonderful sport; it is the opportunity to become a part of an institution at Xavier. Playing lacrosse brings a sense of team and community to the student, and gives them the chance to make friends, travel exciting places, learn from older students and above all have a good time playing a great sport.
