Alumni Spotlight

Kerry Smith was a 1999 graduate of Xavier's I-O program. While at Xavier, Kerry was involved with first and second year assistantships. During her first year, she served as a graduate assistant with Dr. Cosgrove and during her second year was involved with enrollment services here on campus. Kerry states that the practical experience she gained while in graduate school helped out extraordinarily in the job market and that current students should match their practical experience in school with their desired position in the future. While still attending school, Kerry was interested in Human Resources but ended up getting a job as a consultant through Xavier's center for career and leadership development. Kerry began working for a company called Information Services doing statistical work here in Cincinnati, and has recently transferred to the Chicago office to be closer to her home. She enjoys her job very much and hopes to expand her resume as a market researcher for a large manufacturing company in the future. Kerry looks back at her time at Xavier as a positive experience and remarks that the small class sizes and camaraderie among classmates in the I-O program was beneficial both personally and academically. Kerry states that she would "highly recommend Xavier's program" and that she is "excited with the changes that are being made" to take the I-O program into the new century.
