Rhonda Norman, clinical coordinator for graduate counseling programs, and Bill O'Connell, associate professor, were invited to provide the keynote address to the Michigan Association of Counselor Educators and Supervisors (MACES) on May 22 at Spring Arbor University near Jackson, Michigan. Drs. Norman and O'Connell also conducted afternoon breakout sessions for attendees to obtain in depth knowledge of methods of intervention that promote cross cultural competence in counselor supervision.
Thomas Hayes, professor of marketing at Xavier University, and vice president and partner of SimpsonScarborough, received theAlice L. Beeman Award for Outstanding Published Scholarship from CASE, The Council for Advancement and Support of Education, for his book Marketing Colleges and Universities: A Service Approach. Hayes’ book reconsiders higher education marketing from a service perspective. He identifies what it takes to provide quality service at a college or university and why superior service must be the foundation of the marketing program. The Beeman Award encourages research in communication and marketing for education which is applicable to practitioners in devising their communications and marketing strategies. It is named in honor of CASE's first president.
Ida Critelli Schick, Ph.D., FACHE, professor and chair/director of the graduate program in Health Services Administration at Xavier University, has been selected as the recipient of the 2009 Teaching and Advising Award from the ACHE (American College of Healthcare Executives) for Ohio. She will receive the award June 15 at the ACHE breakfast during the Ohio Hospital Association annual meeting in Columbus.
