Williams College of Business Invites Women Back to Business
Professional women hold leadership positions in companies representing every industry segment, and many balance both professional and personal commitments during their careers. While a professional may never lose her skills, a prolonged absence from the workforce can create a difficult environment for women who wish to return to their careers. That’s why last year, the Xavier University’s Williams College of Business created Back to Business, a professional development program designed specifically for women who want to return to the workplace.
The 12-day program was very well-received and is back to help another group of 25 women ready to re-enter the workforce. The program immerses women in an intensive learning environment with strong leadership, career development and transition components; refreshes skills and develops assurance to deal with key business concepts that have emerged during the woman’s time away; and provides an environment in which women can network with high-potential peers with similar backgrounds, career aspirations and work/life challenges. Back to Business includes classroom and break-out group facilitated classes on leading-edge topics of current managerial concern, and sessions oriented towards career planning and facilitating career reentry.
The program runs for twelve days: February 9-12, 16-19, 23-26, from 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. each day at Xavier’s Deerfield campus located at 4770 Duke Drive in Mason. The total cost to attend is $1,600 per person. This cost covers all materials and catered lunches each day.
Informational previews will be offered at 2 sites and times:
- December 10, 2008 6:00-7:30 pm in the XMBA Conference Room of Hailstones Hall on the Evanston campus of Xavier University.
- December 13, 2008 10:00-11:30 am at the Xavier Deerfield location 4770 Duke Blvd in Mason.
The program is designed for women with a master’s degree with strong aspirations to return to the corporate workforce, or who have a bachelor’s degree with work experience in a high-potential career and who can commit to the entire program.
Back to Business instructors will be faculty members from the Williams College of Business and the Xavier Leadership Center. The Women of Excellence group at Xavier will also support the program.
