Xavier Students Elect New Student Government Association Leaders

Scanlon-Badall-Johnson wins by 39 votes

Xavier University held elections for its Student Government Association (SGA) leaders on February 12-13. Students could choose between two slates of candidates: Esteban Gamboa and Craig Scanlon for association president, Bianca Callejas and Josh Badall for administrative vice president and Chris Hale and Carter Johnson for legislative vice president. Scanlon, Badall, and Johnson came out on top by 39 votes.

 

Craig Scanlon, 21, is a senior from Gahanna, OH double-majoring in political science and theology. Currently, he is legislative vice president in this year’s SGA administration. He says, “I am excited to continue making advancements and changes within SGA and for the entire student body.”

 

Josh Badall, 20, is a sophomore from Jackson, MI majoring in biology. He has served two years on Student Activities Council and one year as the Weekday Events Committee chair.

 

M. Carter Johnson, 20, is a sophomore from Charlotte, NC majoring in finance. He is the son of William D. Johnson of Charlotte and Cynthia D. Simpson of Huntersville. Carter has spent two years serving in the student senate on the financial affairs committee, and is a member of the university budget review committee and the X-Shirt committee.

 

The new team takes office on April 7 and says its first step will be to sit down with the other ticket to incorporate innovative ideas from their platform and begin uniting SGA, because we are all here to pursue similar goals.”
