Call for Nominations to Honor Outstanding Teachers

Teachers to be honored from area elementary, middle and high schools

Know an outstanding teacher? Want to tell the community about them?

 

The presidents of Northern Kentucky University, the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University are joining together to honor teachers who exemplify the best in classroom instruction and professional involvement with their schools and community.

 

This is the fourth year the collaboration, known as “Conversations, Connections, Collaborations” or C3 has honored local teachers.

 

This year two elementary, middle school and high school teachers will be selected from the Greater Cincinnati area to receive the six Outstanding Teacher Awards for 2008. The winners will receive a cash prize of $1,000 and an award plaque noting their achievement. They will also be honored at a dinner on May 9, 2008 at the Cintas Center at Xavier University. The keynote speaker will be Guy Doud, a National Teacher of the Year.

 

Teachers MUST be nominated by their principals. Letters and nomination forms have been sent to principals at Greater Cincinnati schools. Nominations must be received by Saturday, March 1.

 

Nomination criteria includes: nominee must be an elementary, middle grade (4th through 8th) or high school teacher; demonstrate exceptional knowledge of subject matter and conveys this knowledge to students in innovative teaching methods that enable all students to learn; relates to students in a manner that helps them succeed both in and out of the classroom; actively participates in the school community beyond the expectation of their teaching duties; participates in professional development activities that improve teaching and learning while keeping current with education trends; works effectively with administrators, colleagues, and parents; and is actively involved in the community.
