12/03/07
Xavier University’s Romero International Center, the divisions of Student Life and Leadership, Marketing and Printing Services, Alumni Relations, and the Department of Art are hosting Xavier University’s Second Annual International Photo Contest, in which entrants capture different places around the world on film in a manner that exhibits high technical and artistic merit and a sense of place or culture outside the United States. Each participant may submit up to five entries. The contest is accepting submissions until December 19. The competition is open to students (both graduate and undergraduate), faculty, staff, and, for the first time, alumni. Submission forms are available in various places on campus or can be downloaded at the contest website, www.xavier.edu/internationalphotos, which also gives contest details. High resolution images should be submitted on a CD to the Office of International Student Services by the December 19 deadline.
The entries will be judged by Greg Rust, Xavier’s director for photography, Gene Carmichael, S.J., interim vice president of mission and ministry, Lea Minniti, interim program coordinator of International Student Services, and Jonathan Gibson, assistant professor of art. Student photos will be judged separately from photos taken by faculty/staff/alumni. All contest finalists will have their photos displayed in the “Faces of the World” lounge in Xavier’s Gallagher Student Center, which showcases images of different cultures from around the world.
Winners will receive prizes donated by Xavier University photographer Greg Rust and Canon.
