Students with an interest in playwriting can submit both 10-minute plays, one-act plays and full-length plays to the New Play Program. Plays are submitted by November 1 to the regional playwriting chair and are selected for inclusion in the regional festival. Plays are generally given staged readings at the regional festival. One one-act is chosen at each festival to be given full production at the next year's festival. Ten-minute plays can be chosen to advance to the National Festival in Washington.
