MEETING MINUTES

    • Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) is this weekend! Players Night will be on Thursday. So be sure to print off the email that you receive from Tracy and get your free ticket to Thursday night.
    • The tools are oiled and hammered!
    • Last weekend Mike Sause’s mother passed away. Mike is a Player Alumni and we have a card. Please contact Lauren if you would like to sign the card (yadloskyl@xavier.edu)
    • Contact Tracy if you are interested in working concessions and/or ushering for Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) this weekend (macmorinet@xavier.edu).
    • There will be a PR Stunt for Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) tomorrow (11/17). We will be passing out Clementine’s in drag. You do not have to be in drag, but it is hilarious. Please contact Jessie if interested in helping (shermanj1@xavier.edu)
    • The script deadline for Workshop 2010 is coming up. So get your thinking caps on and turn in your script by 5:00pm on January 14th. We are looking for 10-15 minute comedic plays.
    • There will be two Writing Workshops before the Workshop script deadline. Alex will have more details next week.
    • We announced last week that Players will be Adopting a Family this year. Basically, Players is in charge of Christmas for one local family (4-5 family members). The first thing we are doing is collecting donations. We are asking that each Player donate five dollars to help this family out. We ask that you give your money (Cash or Check) to a Board member or to Alex’s hat by November 30th at a Players meeting or whenever you see us around campus. Then we will divide into groups and assign a family member to each group. Each group will go out and shop for the items on their wishlist and then we take our gifts to the family. Stop by the ATM before next week’s meeting and make a donation!
    • The American Theatre College Festival (ACTF) takes place Jan. 5th – 12th in Saginaw, Michigan. It is an opportunity to go to workshops, see shows, compete for scholarships, NETWORK, and have lots of FUN!! The trip will cost anywhere from $75-105. Check out our Facebook page for information. Signups will be coming up soon!
    • PAG Review Boards will take place 11/23 and 11/30 at 2:00pm – 3:00pm and 4:00pm – 5:00pm. Sign ups are on the bulletin board outside of the studio.
    • Play Reading Group’s next meeting will be this Friday 11/20 at 3:00 PM (Two hour commitment). We will be reading the second act of The Cherry Orchard! Nate would like to stress that the purpose of Play Reading Group is to give Players a say in our season. So far we have read and graded the following.
      • Cryano De Bergerac, B+, Positive Recommendation
      • Moon Over Buffalo, A-, Strong Positive Recommendation
      • Othello, B+, Negative Recommendation
      • A Streetcar Named Desire, A, Positive Recommendation
    • We have a twitter! (www.twitter.com/XavierPlayers)
    • Two Shakespeare Scholars came to our Players meeting last week to teach Iambic Pentameter. Here is what some Player’s thought about it:
      • Positives- Interesting to people that don’t like Shakespeare and to people that liked Shakespeare
      • Negatives- The speakers were pressed for time, some Players were not informed about the meeting, the Players did not uphold the superstition with the word “Macbeth”, not interactive
      • Suggestions- Bring Cincy Shakes people to workshop at Xavier, have a workshop like this earlier in the production process, good idea to be expanded on.
    • Spike Heels auditions will be 12/2 and 12/3 at 7:00pm.
    • Taming of the Shrew will be playing at Cincy Shakes on December 6th at 2:00pm and we have free tickets. Contact Tracy by 5:00pm on 12/1 to get your tickets (macmorinet@xavier.edu). Two Xavier Alumni are in it so be sure to check it out!
    • Playhouse in the Park (Two time tony award winner!) is opening its internship program to Xavier students. Cathy will be giving us more details in the near future, but be expecting a workshop from Playhouse soon.
    • Board would like to have other Players lead fun activities/games (related to theatre) when we have short meetings. If you would like to lead an activity please contact Lauren (yadloskyl@xavier.edu).
    • Happy Birthday to Alex!
    • Meeting ended at 2:03pm.
  •
    Respectfully Submitted,
    Nathan J. Fischer
