About the Region

Technically, Ohio is part of Region II. Because we are geographically closer to the states in Region III (Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Indiana), Xavier takes part in the Region III Festival and registers its shows with Region III. Every winter, each region hosts a festival, inviting full productions from participating schools, including many student-written plays. are presented as part of the New Play program. Also included: Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Auditions, Barbizon Design Award competitions, a New Play Program (featuring student one-acts and10-minute plays), a Dramaturgy competition, and the National Critics' Institute. Workshops in all areas of theatre are offered. Last year nearly 1,500 students attended our festival! For more information visit http://www.kcactf3.org/

Xavier University Performing Arts & Xavier Players Involvement

This will be our fourth year of involvement with ACTF, and the 3rd time we’ve entered a show on the  participating level—this means that 2 respondents will evaluate our production, offer feedback to the cast, crew, designers & director, and will hopefully recommend that the production be invited to be performed the regional festival. Even if the production is not chosen for performance, our students may be invited to participate in the Regional Festival in the following ways:

- Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Auditions
- Barbizon Design Awards
- New Play Program
- National Critics Institute
- Regional Design Competition
- LMDA Dramaturgy Award
