Keys, Locks and Electronic Access
The building coordinator or designee tracks the building keys and to whom the keys are assigned. Personnel changes within the building should be reported to the building coordinator so the key assignments can be properly tracked.
All requests for keys must be submitted on a key request form which requires the signature of the Department Head. The signed and completed form may be mailed (ML #7111) or faxed (513) 745-1926 to Physical Plant offices.
If a department within a building is hiring a new employee or relocating a current employee and new keys are required, please submit a Key Request form a week before the new hire starts or the move occurs. This will allow the locksmith the time needed to produce and deliver the required keys.
- The Key Shop performs repairs, replacements, and preventative maintenance on University locksets and hardware. A lockset includes the door knob or handle, the latch, the strike plate, the core, and the internal locking mechanisms. We strive to continually provide excellent service and quick response time to lock and door hardware problems. If you are experiencing a problem with your door lock, please feel free to contact the Work Control office at 745-3151 or submit a request via the online request form.
- The Key Shop is also responsible for cutting all keys for the University. If you are a faculty member in need of a key, please contact your building coordinator. If you are unsure who your building coordinator is, please feel free to contact the Physical Plant Work Control at 745-3151.
