Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning Systems

Operations maintains all occupied spaces at a comfortable level using heating, air conditioning and ventilation systems. Operations installs and maintains thermostats and other room temperature control devices, wall and ceiling mounted fan coil units, window and room a/c units, furnaces and boilers.

Temperature and ventilation problems or needs during normal working hours can be reported to the Physical Plant Office at 745-3151 or via an email. In an effort to conserve energy, some heating and air conditioning systems may be scheduled to be off at certain times after normal working hours. Should it become necessary to modify schedules to accommodate special needs or changes to schedules, please contact the Physical Plant Office at 745-3151 or email plant@xavier.edu.

Every weekday night, during the summer, Xavier freezes over 125 tons of ice when electric rates are cheaper and melts it the next day to cool academic buildings and dormitories.
