Device Physics

Device physics research will benefit greatly from the purchase of an evaporation deposition system. The unit is capable of three types of depostion: electron beam, sputtering, and resistive boat. The chamber is pumped down to extremely low pressures with a cryopump. Dr. Steven Herbert will be working with the system this year in conjunction with his superconductivity research. The purchase was made possible through grants from the National Science Foundation ($124,000), the Hauck Foundation ($20,000) and Xavier funds.
