Careers
in Philosophy
The philosophy program plays an important part in
the student's liberal arts education as well as preparing
the student for graduate study or future employment.
It is an excellent preparation for advanced study in
philosophy, leading to the Masters or Doctoral degrees,
or for professional schooling such as the law.
It also serves as a basic major toward graduate studies
that do not require a major in their specific field,
such as English, psychology, theology or communication
arts. In the recent past, students graduating with
majors in philosophy have gone on to graduate school,
law school, or have gone on to take positions in the
corporate world.
The critical skills and conceptual discipline developed
in philosophy have also been recognized as excellent
preparation for careers involving computers and computer
programming. |
