Peace Studies Minor

Peace Studies is a rapidly developing area of academic study which, from a variety of disciplines, examines:

  • the causes and consequences of war and social conflict
  • the relationship between peace, social justice, and ecological sustainability
  • the requirements for peace and strategies for conflict resolution/conflict transformation
  • the ethical implications of violence and nonviolence

Xavier's Peace Studies Minor is a fifteen hour interdisciplinary program compatible with any undergraduate major. Peace Studies draws on a wide range of academic subjects including international affairs, history, political science, economics, theology, philosophy, literature, psychology, gender and diversity studies, the natural sciences, and others.
