Dianne Fisk Director's Note

Congratulations to our Class of 2011. To the parents of these graduates, we extend a great big ?job well done? for all of your support over the last few years. It is such a wonderful accomplishment for all.

We are taking a break from our newsletter in June and July. Look for us again the third week of August, as we prepare for the start of the fall semester.

Take time and enjoy your student(s) this summer.

Regards,

Dianne Fisk

Commencement 2011
Xavier celebrated its 173rd annual commencement Saturday, May 14. Nearly 900 undergraduate students matriculated. Alumnus Charles Geschke, co-founder of software powerhouse Adobe Systems Inc., was keynote spaker. View a slideshow of the ceremony and read an article in the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Office of Admission: Class of 2015
Xavier will welcome an estimated 1,170 incoming students this fall, the second-largest freshmen class in University history. The Office of Admission wishes to thank parents and families who helped support recruitment events throughout the academic year.

Office of the Bursar
This is an ideal time to have your student check the balance on his or her bursar account. Make sure there is no outstanding balance for the spring or prior semesters. Diplmoas for graduating seniors will be held if there is an oustanding balance.

Two changes are taking place within the bursar?s office that will impact your student. The first is a slight change in Xavier's payment plans. Effective this summer, the bursar combined the "Payment-in-Full" plan with the "Five-Payment" plan and now call it the "X-Flex Payment" plan.

The second change relates to the appearance of Xavier's eBill. The due date and current due have been removed from the eBill. To find out the due date and the current due, authorized users should log into the University ePayment site and click on the payment plan in which your student is enrolled. You may avoid interest charges by paying the total balance in full on or before the first due date of the semester. Keep in mind that every student is required to enroll in a payment plan each semester.

For more information about these changes, visit the FAQ section of the bursar's website. For more information, contact the Office of the Bursar at 513-745-3435 or xubursar@xavier.edu.

Campus Safety
The University is increasing exterior lighting across campus to improve safety and deter crime. The first areas on campus to receive upgrades this spring include the McGrath Health and Wellness Center parking lot, the steps outside Cintas Center to Cohen Center and the steps by O?Connor Sports Center leading to Elet Hall. The University is adding more exterior lights over the summer in the South Lot and the Alumni Center and Village "E" parking lots. Read more about campus safety initiatives.

Business School Dean Leaving Xavier
Ali Malekzadeh, dean of the Williams College of Business, is leaving Xavier to become Edgerley Family Dean of Business Administration at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kan. He assumes his new responsibilities July 1. Xavier plans to announce an interim dean of WCB this summer. A formal search to permanently fill the position will be conducted next year.
