Tutoring and Disability Services through the Learning Assistance Center

With classes under way, students may be experiencing an unexpectedly challenging class. Perhaps they are one of the 300 students who have requested subject-specific tutoring through the Learning Assistance Center or are attending Supplemental Instruction or a drop-in tutoring session.

If not, please encourage your student to become familiar with the various support services available in the Michael J. Conaton Learning Commons.  The fifth floor is home to the Learning Assistance Center (LAC), Student Academic Support Services (SASS), which includes TRiO Student Support Services (SSS), Athletic Academic Advising and Student Success and Retention. The fourth floor offers additional tutoring resources through the Writing Center and Math Tutoring Lab.

The schedule for Supplemental Instruction and drop-in tutoring is available on the Learning Assistance Center’s web site at http://www.xavier.edu/lac/Supplemental-Instruction-and-Drop-In-Sessions.cfm. Supplemental Instruction is offered for general biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and anatomy and physiology.  Drop-in tutoring is offered for Spanish, physics and music theory.

Students with documented disabilities are encouraged to register with the LAC’s Disability Services in order to receive accommodations. Students must provide documentation of their disability and complete a faculty letters request form for each semester they would like to be accommodated.

For more information, contact LAC at 513-745-3280. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
