Packing List : Pack light and follow the tips below:
Clothing to bring:
- Layers – several short sleeves and several long sleeve tops; non-logo t-shirts are acceptable
- Pants below the knee – capri’s will do but may not be warm enough. Kaki-type pants or scrubs are acceptable; avoid jeans
- 1-2 (maybe even 3) warm jackets, sweatshirts, or fleeces as when it rains and in the evenings it is cool to cold
- Raincoat/gear and/or umbrella as it will likely rain everyday at least in the afternoon, if not before
- Something warm to wear for nighttime sleeping
- Sun protection including sunscreen, sunglasses, an/or hat
- Comfortable and sturdy walking/working shoes – gym shoes will work nicely; sturdy sandals are acceptable
You may also want to bring the following:
- Small day pack or waist pack for day trips
- Camera
- Flashlight for nighttime bedroom “roaming” and/or “reading”
- Money belt or neck pouch to hold money and copy of passport
- Earplugs for sleeping
- “Antidotes” for anticipated illnesses such as diarrhea, motion sickness, and/or headaches
- Book to read and/or journal to write
- Cash to spend and a credit card for emergencies or unexpected purchases
- Several $1 bills to use for small purchased and/or tips if needed before changing money
- Hand wipes or anti-bacterial wipes/gel
- Articles/books/maps about the places you will visit
Travel documents you must bring along:
- Plane ticket
- Passport
- Driver’s license
- Travel insurance ID card
- International Student ID card
- All notarized documents (group leader will carry for you)
Note: You may as well leave the lice shampoo at home. If anyone contracts lice it likely won’t be known until we return home at which time the shampoo can be purchased if needed.
