All Guatemala 2013 participants will make their own flight arrangements with a planned arrival in Guatemala City between 12-2pm on the designated Saturday. Once everyone has arrived, the group will travel together to the lodging destination. The group will return the following Saturday. Anyone extending his/her stay in Guatemala will do so independently of the Guatemala 2013 initiative and no longer be under the directive of the trip leader or bound by Xavier University policy and procedures for Guatemala 2013 (as outlined in the Assumption of Risk and Release and Academic Service Learning Agreement forms).
Students booking their flights must have their plans approved by Scheerer (course instructor for HOCS 325 & HOCS 405) prior to booking the flight. This is to double-check and ensure that all flight arrangements are accurate for days/times/destinations for both the departing and return flights.
All practitioners must ensure that their flights arrive in Guatemala on the designated day and time. Those who arrive earlier or later will have to make their own transportation arrangements from the airport to and pay for; the place of lodging.
All participants, students and practitioners alike, must provide the Department of Occupational Therapy a copy of their itinerary once the flight is booked.
Note #1: All participants are welcome to book their flight to Guatemala City from any location; likewise, from Guatemala City to any destination.
Note #2: The flight plans of Scheerer and the other Xavier University Occupational Therapy faculty will be shared upon booking (likely in January or February 2013) so that anyone flying out of Cincinnati can book the same flight. Traveling as a group is welcomed but not required.
