TRIP DETAILS > COMMUNICATION WITH HOME

Most American-purchased cell phones do not work in Guatemala. The trip leader will have an in-country cell phone available for emergency calls. The emergency phone number will be shared with all participants and be available via the Department of Occupational Therapy which will serve as “command central” for this initiative.

Guatemala 2012 participants may purchase cell phones at the airport but doing so is not necessary as daily updates will be emailed home to loved ones.

Each day a designated team comprised of at least one student and one practitioner will post to the Guatemala 2012 Blog. The blog address at http://www.xavierguatemala.blogspot.com will be given out freely to all interested persons. Go here to see the adventures and service and learning that occurred in Summer 2011. In that way, communication with home will occur.
