APPLICATION for students

To apply for Guatemala 2012:

  1. Complete the application entitled X. U. Study Abroad Application for Admission. For the question that asks why you are a good candidate, be sure to include your competency in speaking Spanish as well as your experience working with children (e.g., babysitting, working with younger siblings or at a summer camp). Submit this application by November 16, 2012, to the Department of Occupational Therapy.

  2. Give a Personal Reference Form to two professors outside of the Department of Occupational Therapy who are able to comment on your qualifications for study abroad. Make the same request from a non-academic person only if you have been away from academia for some time. If in question about whom to give the forms, contact Carol Scheerer, GA 2013 Coordinator, at scheerer@xavier.edu. Be sure to direct the professors to submit the forms by November 16, 2012, to the Department of Occupational Therapy as directed on the bottom of the form.

  3. Schedule a 15-20 minute interview with the GA 2012 team during November 26 - November 30, 2012. Do so by calling or emailing Tina Forshler, the secretary in Occupational Therapy, at 513-745-3150 or forschler@xavier.edu. The purpose of the interview will be to determine your maturity level, readiness for such an experience, and ability to work well in a group. Each applicant will be asked the same series of questions.

  4. Sit back and relax – you will be notified of your acceptance status on or around December 7th.
