We do not generally promote procrastination at the Newswire, but we can’t help but love these websites.
We start visiting these websites just to kill a few minutes or so and suddenly we realize that we’ve been sitting in front of the computer for two hours, missed an important class and are still crying with laughter.
The Newswire staff got together and picked some of the best websites to waste your time.
Garfield Minus the Garfield
This website takes a normal, three frame Garfield comic, removes Garfield and then let’s readers view just how crazy Jon Arbuckle really is. The greatest thing about this website is that this is actually what Jon Arbuckle is doing because he is talking to a cat. If anything, it will make you laugh hysterically for 30 minutes. Stumble Upon
Do you ever get random instant messages from friends pointing you to the most obscure, bizarre and outrageous websites? A lot of us do (mostly from Matt Finger) and I’ve always wondered where he finds these things. He’s letting the cat out of the bag and revealing to us the website that is stumbleupon.com. Simply visit the site, try the online demo and explore the world wide web to your heart’s content. The application takes you to a random website every time you click on the ‘stumble’ button. It opens your eyes to what is really out there…which is a lot of nonsense.

Although it may seem obvious, wikipedia has loads of ways to occupy yourself. There’s an article of the day randomly chosen by a wikipedia staffer. You can also look up any day on the calendar and get a full run-down of every notable person born on that day. And you can always see how many clicks it takes you to get from the Newswire wikipedia page
