Two area residents robbed at gunpoint near campus

On Oct. 24 and 25, two area residents were robbed at gunpoint just across the street from the Xavier campus according to Campus Police.

The first robbery, which occurred behind the Ezzell auto parts store on Dana and Ledgewood avenues, was reported to Campus Police at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 by an area resident. The victim fled when he was approached by the suspects, who proceeded to fire a shot at the victim from a 9 mm handgun. [full story]

Stats show campus crime increase

Crime on Xavier’s campus is on the decline, while off-campus incidents are slowly but noticeably increasing, according to Xavier Campus Police statistics.

The most noticeable change in Xavier’s crime statistics, which covers through March of 2006, has been the increased number of alcohol arrests and citations. But this boom in liquor law citations is not because of increased consumption but rather from a new system being employed by the university to track and record alcohol violations. [full story]

Parking after hours

In the wake of the recent armed robberies near the Ledgewood parking lot, we've noticed that Campus Police have locked the area down. We frequent that lot quite often, since it's the closest place to our offices that the meter maids allow us to park.

In fact, we've seen a Campus Police vehicle watching over the lot every single time we've parked there since last Thursday. So we don't feel unsafe in the Ledgewood lot. [full article]

The woes of being a princess

A few years ago on a regular Monday night, I was babysitting my two cousins who are 4 and 7 years old. We were having regular little girl conversations, so of course we brought up our favorite Disney princesses. I was shocked and appalled to hear from both of them that their favorite Disney princess was Ariel. [full review]

 Calendar City

Wednesday

Inspired by the action-packed, adventurous life I live, I've decided to dedicate this week to secret agents who kick butt, take names and always get the babes.

So, loyal Calendar Citizens, this week shall be a manual-a challenge, if you will. You will be given many options for badarse-ness (I don't know if I can say the three letter word for butt, so I'll say arse) that you may or may not accept.

Each day will hold a new adventure...so hold tight to your form-fitted, plaid bellbottoms, you crazy hippies, because here we go (like the N*SYNC song! LOLZ! OMG! THYE'RE LIKE SO HANDSOME!!! LOLZZZZZ!!!@!@!@)

Your first mission, should you choose to accept it, involves capturing a small woodland creature.
