The issue of eminent domain has been a hot topic both on and off Xavier’s campus. With Xavier’s unveiling of a 10 year growth plan, which includes a renovated Alter Hall, McDonald Library, more greenspace and a new Williams College of Business, comes the possibility of eminent domain.
This comes in the midst of the Ohio Supreme Court’s ruling involving the use of eminent domain in the Rookwood Commons area of Norwood. [full story]

New hopes come with each new fall
Every year at this time there are questions that seep into everyone’s mind. Little children raise their hands in school, people call in to NPR and write letters to anybody or everybody. They all ask the same questions:
Will any of the new TV shows be good this fall? Will we push them aside for our old, familiar favorites? Will we boycott TV altogether and read books? Well, let’s hope not. [full story]
The story follows two men who travel all the way to Germany for their own national holiday, Oktoberfest. It is there that they mingle with the wrong crowd. They soon find themselves in the middle of a “Fight Club”-esque competition, only this time with beer. Are you not sold already?

It’s about that time in the semester when everyone gets into a routine. The excitement and anxiety of starting a new year are over. All the clubs on campus are finally getting started, and stories of the summer are dying down.

I, personally, am regretting my decision of commuting from the Village every day. Sure, for the first couple weeks it was a great chance to catch up with old friends, but now it’s just a long and taxing walk over a road that only half of the Village students survive on a daily basis. [full week]
