- February 15, 2006 - The Olympics are upon us again. We can only watch this display of first-class figure skating, skiing and bobsledding and other winter sports for a few weeks until the Olympics return in four years. Based on the ratings this year, you’d never guess that the Olympics are a monumental part of our cultural history. It seems that we, as Americans, have grown too accustomed to seeing ourselves on TV at the Olympics. I was taken back by the comments in last week’s editorial concerning the decency of "Last Muskie Standing." The editorial, which stated that my act was not only "distasteful" but also "showed no talent," was written with such disgust that the reader might have thought I was performing at a Sunday school. |
