Crosstown Knockout
Though melting in 2nd half, Xavier turns to butter in OT

"What a war, what an amazing game." That’s how men’s basketball head coach Sean Miller described the Musketeers 73-71 overtime victory over the Cincinnati Bearcats in Thursday night’s Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout at the Cintas Center. A sellout crowd of 10,250 saw the Musketeers fight back from a seven-point Bearcat lead at halftime to win their seventh game in a row and their third of the last four games against UC.

Senior center Brian Thornton recorded his fourth double-double of the year, scoring 20 points and pulling down 12 rebounds, and sophomore guard Stanley Burrell scored 20 points for the second straight game as Xavier improved their record to 12-2, the best start in school history.
