Xavier's Sigma Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha receives awards at the Ohio district meeting

The chapter and its members were recognized for their high grade point averages

The  Sigma Gamma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity at Xavier University received numerous awards at the Ohio district meeting at the Hyatt Regency in Cincinnaiti during the weekend of Nov. 13-15.

Sigma Gamma was recognized as the chapter with the highest grade point average. Aaron Marble, Class of 2010, was recognized as the brother with the highest grade point average in the Ohio district. Marble is a senior from Cincinnati majoring in human resources with a minor in theology.

Tatiana Sanders, Class of 2012, won the Ohio District Miss Black & Gold Scholarship Pageant. She will represent the Ohio district at the regional level with chances of advancing to the national convention. Sanders is a sophomore from Toledo majoring in public relations.

Founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., in 1906, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity was the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-American students. It develops leaders and promotes brotherhood and academic excellence while providing service and advocacy for communities.
