For the past four years, the University has sponsored Walk As One, a fund-raising event that addresses issues of social justice in the community. This years walk-a-thon is Saturday, Oct. 19. Xavier faculty, staff and students are invited to take part in the event along with their friends and family members.
The walk begins at 10 a.m. at Yeatmans Cove at Sawyer Point along Cincinnatis riverfront. Sponsored by the
National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ), Walk As One asks each participant to raise a minimum of $100 in pledges from personal supporters. The proceeds help fund the development and expansion of NCCJs youth and community leadership programs, which address issues of racism, sexism and classism through experiential activities and dialogue. They also support the
National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati.
