04/03/08

The Black Student Association (BSA), along with the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the Department of Art and Campus Police are hosting its inaugural BSA Charity Art Auction. Work donated by faculty, students, alumni and collectors is being auctioned off Monday, April 7, at 5:30 p.m. in the Cintas Center.

Xavier’s Chief of Police Mike Couch is the presiding auctioneer. He is an auctioneer and owns Chief Mike's Auctioneering Services in Addyston. Proceeds from the auction support Orphans of Rwanda International (ORI), which is dedicated to helping orphans and other socially vulnerable young people in Rwanda. They get help pursuing a university education and, ultimately, become leaders in fostering economic development and social reconciliation. ORI provides holistic support, including tuition, housing, healthcare, counseling and a range of supplemental training programs, to ensure its students are prepared to excel.

Admission to this event is free. Food and refreshments are available for sale. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the auction starts promptly at 6:30 p.m.
