Joseph Mulligan, S.J., discusses Michigan Peace Team
Jesuit offers eyewitness report on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict
04/01/08
Joseph Mulligan, a Jesuit from Detroit, served as a member of the Michigan Peace Team in Palestine from November 2007 to January 2008. He is discussing his trip in a talk titled, “My Six Weeks in the West Bank and Gaza,” on Tuesday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Bellarmine Chapel. The Michigan Peace Team pursues peace through active nonviolence in places of conflict. While Mulligan’s experience was primarily with Palestinians, he also had contact with Jewish friends in Israel, some of whom are in active solidarity with Palestinian efforts for justice, and all of whom are understandably concerned about their own security. “The only way both the Jewish and the Palestinian people will have true peace and security is through a just solution of the underlying issues of the conflict,” Mulligan says.
While there is no admission charge, a donation is appreciated to benefit the Michigan Peace Team and to help pay for Mulligan’s travel costs to Palestine.
