Xavier Players stage 'Steel Magnolias' in the Gallagher Studio Theatre
An opening night party is being held in the Women's Center

The title refers to the seemingly frail Southern belles who survive any and all deprivations through wills of iron. “Steel Magnolias is a walk through the misconceptions of feminism,” says director Cheryl Couch.
The student actors are learning about life, as well. “They are assertive with their education, and they are beginning to synthesize feeling with the academics,” says Cathy Springfield, director for performing arts. Some of the student actors are in a play at Xavier for the first time and some are in a role for the first time.
