For the fourth consecutive year, Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati are taking part in the Crosstown Preachout on Sunday, Feb. 10, at the 10:00 p.m. student Mass in Bellarmine Chapel. Unlike previous years, the Preachout is taking place on only one campus. Since Xavier was the recent host of the Crosstown Shootout. Al Hirt from UC's Newman Center is coming to campus to assist University President Michael J. Graham, S.J., with the liturgy. He will be accompanied by a group of UC students. A social immediately follows the Mass.
The Crosstown Preachout was created three years ago to bring together students from both universities in a spirit of faith and companionship.“We have scheduled this year’s Crosstown Preachout with more involvement from the students this year,” says Kelly Albainy-Jenei, Xavier Campus Minister. Albainy-Jenei and Michael Schreiner, one of the UC Campus Ministers, put together a group of about six students from each campus to plan and organize the event.
In addition to the Crosstown Preachout, Xavier and UC are collaborating on the inaugural Crosstown Speakout, whereby the university presidents are speaking about their school and how the two work together. Graham joins UC President Nancy Zimpher in the Gallagher Student Center Theater on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 6:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.
