Men’s golf ranked No. 51
Team hosts tournament this weekend

The 10th annual Xavier Provident Invitational golf tournament takes place Monday, Oct. 14, and Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Golf Center at Kings Island. The event brings in 18 collegiate teams from around the country to participate in the 56-hole tournament on the clubs Grizzly Course. It is sponsored by Xavier, Cintas Corp. and The Kroger Co.
The teams include Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Georgetown, Indiana, Iowa, Marshall, Michigan, Ohio, Penn State, Richmond, Saint Josephs, Western Kentucky, Wright State and
Xavier.
The mens team goes into the event ranked No. 51 in the country after winning the University of Michigan Wolverine Invitational last weekend. It was the teams first tournament win since winning the 2001 Atlantic 10 Championship. Earlier this year, the team tied for 10th in the University of Wisconsin Badger Invitational, finished sixth in the Falcon Antigua Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo., and fourth in the Northern Intercollegiate in Bloomington, Ind.
Mondays shotgun rounds begin at 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. with the teams shooting 36 holes. Tee time for the final rounds on Tuesday is 8:00 a.m. with 18 holes. The four low scores from teach teams five golfers determine the final score. Live scoring updates and results are available online at
