Chicago alumni gather for "Blessing"
President Michael J. Graham, S.J., hosts special tour of traveling exhibit
05/30/07"A Blessing to One Another: Pope John Paul II and the Jewish People," the landmark exhibit that debuted at the University in May 2005, serves as the centerpiece for a special gathering of Chicago alumni at 6:00 p.m. on May 31 at Loyola University Museum of Art in Chicago. University President Michael J. Graham, S.J., hosts the event, joined by two of the exhibit’s principal planners, James Buchanan, director for Xavier’s Edward B. Brueggeman Center for dialogue, and William Madges, former professor of theology at the University.
"A Blessing to One Another" has appeared throughout the United States since closing at Xavier in September 2005, traveling to the John Paul II Center in Washington, D.C.; Duquesne University in Pittsburgh; and the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York. In August, the exhibit moves to Philadelphia, then on to the Florida Holocaust Museum in St. Petersburg in early 2008. The exhibit is already booked into 2009, with scheduled showings in Miami and Los Angeles.
