'Near-naked' students run mile for good cause
Runners are encouraged to dress in internationally themed costumes
02/01/07Students are taking "nearly all" their clothes off on Friday, Feb. 9, at 8:00 p.m., for the seventh annual Nearly Naked Mile. This year’s theme is “Nearly Naked Mile 2007: An International Experience.” Runners are encouraged to dress either in costume or bathing suit of minimal attire that portrays this year’s theme for the one-mile race. This year’s race benefits Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital. The race is open to the public, and alumni are welcome to participate.
The race begins in front of Husman Residence Hall. Runners will race past the residential mall, touch a gate by the intramural fields and finish in front of Husman.
Following the race, participants are heading over to the Gallagher Student Center for food from local restaurants such as Bucca di Beppo, Chipotle and Blue Gibbon. Entertainment is provided by the South Asian Society, FACES and other international student clubs on campus. Prizes will be awarded for the best international costume and for the fastest male and female “Nearly Naked” runners.
Registration begins Monday, Feb. 5, from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in the Gallagher Student Center. The cost for this year’s event is $10 for registration, which includes a souvenir T-shirt.
