Bird flu expert speaking about surviving next pandemic, other emerging infectious diseases
Dr. Michael Greger reveals what society can do to reduce likelihood of such potential catastrophes in future
11/08/06Bird flu expert Dr. Michael Greger, M.D., is delivering the talk, “Surviving the Next Pandemic: Bird Flu and Other Emerging Infectious Diseases,” on Thursday, Nov. 9, at 7:00 p.m. in Kelly Auditorium. In his talk, he traces the human role in the evolution of this virus. Dr. Greger reveals what can be done to protect the community and what human society can do to reduce the likelihood of such potential catastrophes in the future.
Dr. Greger is the director of public health and animal agriculture at the Humane Society of the United States. An internationally recognized lecturer, he has presented at the Conference on World Affairs, the National Institutes of Health, and the Bird Flu Summit, among countless other symposia and institutions. He was invited as an expert witness in defense of Oprah Winfrey at the infamous “meat defamation” trial. Dr. Greger is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Agriculture and the Tufts University School of Medicine.
Dr. Greger is also signing copies of his new book, Bird Flu: A Virus of Our Own Hatching. This event is presented by Advocates for Animals.
