University hosting North American Evangelization Conference at Cintas Center

06/09/06Catholic leaders on the international, diocesan and parish levels, including a prominent Latin American cardinal, are coming together in Cincinnati, July 12-15, to reflect on evangelization and explore ways to nurture their respective ministries in a culture of diversity.
The North American Institute for Catholic Evangelization, sponsored by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Xavier University and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Secretariat for Evangelization, is expected to bring more than 300 international participants to the Cintas Center.
Oscar Andre Cardinal Rodriguez Maradiaga, archbishop for Tegucigalpa, Honduras, is delivering the keynote address on Wednesday night.
Other major speakers, all of whom are well-known authors, speakers and teachers, include Rev. Robert E. Barron, Rev. Frank DeSiano, Bishop Gustzavo Garcia-Siller, Dr. Adele J. Gonzales, Sister Eva Marie Lumas, J-Glenn Murray, S.J., Rev. Peter C. Phan, Sister Jamie T. Phelps, and Sister Edith Pendergast.
Each major presentation is followed by table discussion, with each table made up of different ministries, and by cultural exchanges.
Participants include bishops, priests, deacons, educators at all levels, and a wide range of lay ministers, such as pastoral associates and those involved in catechesis, adult faith formation, communications, ethnic ministries, evangelization, liturgy, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, social justice, stewardship, youth ministry and young adults.
