University offering free class for Master of Education students starting this summer
Qualified teachers receive free tuition for first three-credit hour course
05/01/06Starting this summer, qualifying teachers beginning their Master of Education are eligible for a scholarship to cover a free class. Xavier’s office of graduate services is offering full tuition scholarships for a student’s first 3-credit hour course. Scholarships are being awarded as long as funds are available during the 2006-2007 academic year.
To be considered for the scholarship a teacher must fulfill the following requirements:
- Be a fully licensed teacher (not teaching on a temporary license) and employed by a public, private or charter school.
- Be accepted into Xavier's Master of Education degree program with a concentration in one of the following: elementary, secondary, Montessori, reading, multicultural literature for children, special education or administration.
- Have an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Agree to apply the 100-percent scholarship to either a three-credit-hour core educational foundations course or to a three-credit-hour course in the degree concentration.
“We are confident that once a teacher experiences a class at Xavier, they will want to become part of Xavier’s long tradition of quality education,” says James Boothe, chair of the department of education.
For more information contact the office of graduate admissions and services at 513 745-3360. It’s not too late to receive this scholarship for the May, June or July summer sessions.
