Indie rock favorite Guster is bringing its “Campus Consciousness Tour” to the University on Saturday, April 8, at 9:00 p.m. at the Cintas Center. For the tour Guster is teaming up with environmental action group, Reverb, a non-profit organization founded by Guster guitarist-vocalist Adam Gardner and his wife, Lauren Sullivan, to spread environmental awareness and inspire students to get involved with earth-friendly causes.

“We know that college kids comprise a huge part of our fan base,” says Gardner. “Campuses have traditionally led the way for positive change in this country, and Guster is in the unique position to help be a catalyst.”

As part of the tour a “consciousness” village is being set up in the Cintas Center before the concert. The village is featuring local and national environmental and social non-profit organizations, eco-friendly product sampling and information on alternative energy and transportation. Guster is also raffling off an autographed guitar and a chance to meet the band.

Xavier students can also participate in a round table discussion on environmental and social justice issues and are planning a community-service project in connection with the tour.

Reverb is “greening” the tour itself by using biodiesel fuel and offsetting the concerts with wind power. The National Biodiesel Board is partnering with the tour to fill the tour buses with biodiesel fuel. Biodiesel is a cleaner burning fuel made from renewable resources like soybean oil and other fats and vegetable oils.

Tickets go on sale Friday, March 3, at 10:00 a.m. at ticketmaster.com as well as all Ticketmaster locations. Tickets are $23.50. (Only Xavier University students may purchase tickets at the Cintas Center box office.)
