World-renowned scientist speaks at the Cintas Center

Jane Goodall, one of the most influential scientists of the 20th century, is speaking at a benefit for the Cincinnati Museum Center and the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden on Wednesday, Oct. 9, at the Cintas Center. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. with a brief introduction by Thane Maynard from the Cincinnati Zoo. Goodall’s presentation is focused on her life’s work with chimpanzees in the Gombe National Forest in Tanzania. Goodall is one of the world's best-known wildlife researchers. When Goodall arrived in Kenya in 1957, chimpanzee life was a mystery. She revolutionized primate research when she chose to share a forest home with these animals, man’s closest primate relatives. Eventually, she changed the way the world sees and studies chimps and their habitats. Goodall’s visit to Cincinnati is part of a new exhibit and Omnimax film, “Jane Goodall's Wild Chimpanzees,” which are at the Cincinnati Museum Center beginning Oct. 12 and running through Feb. 14, 2003. The exhibit and film focus on the life work of Goodall, her principal research site at Gombe National Park in Tanzania, and her study subject—chimpanzees. Tickets for Dr. Jane Goodall’s presentation range in price from $5-$40. Limited seating is available.
