Rabbi speaks on papacy in new era of Jewish-Catholic relations
Rabbi Michael Signer has participated in national, international Catholic-Jewish dialogue

Rabbi Michael Signer, co-author of Dabru Emet: A Jewish Statement on Christians and Christianity, spoke on Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the Schiff Family Conference Center.Signer is delivered a talk titled “John Paul II and Benedict XVI: The Papacy in the New Era of Jewish-Catholic Relations.” A professor of theology at the University of Notre Dame, Signer has participated widely in national and international Catholic-Jewish dialogue. He is director for the Notre Dame Holocaust Project and co-chair of the joint commission on interreligious affairs of the Reform Movement.
“This is a critical time for Christian-Jewish relations, in the world and in Cincinnati. Rabbi Signer is one of the world’s leaders in this area, having worked his whole career as a Rabbi and a teacher to help foster stronger, more open Christian-Jewish relations," says James Buchanan, director for the Edward B. Brueggeman Center for Dialogue. "Xavier is very pleased to be partnering with Hebrew Union College to bring him to Cincinnati.”
