Universities get into the beat
Xavier competes with two other local universities to see who can train the most employees in CPR
Xavier is battling the University of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky University this March, but its not on the basketball court. The three universities are competing to train the most university participants in the CPR Crosstown Challenge on Tuesday, March 11. Sponsored by the American Red Cross
and the Universitys wellness team
, the first-time event is in recognition of March being national CPR month.
The training teaches easy-to-learn emergency procedures that prepare individuals to deal with breathing and cardiac emergencies for anyone age 9 and older. Participants learn rescue breathing, the Heimlich maneuver and CPR. This training is suitable for initial certification or for re-certification.
The cost of the training is $5 per participant, and light refreshments are being provided. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis with a maximum of 150 total participants being trained. Pre-registration is available only for groups of 10 or more. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. and training is from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. in the Cintas Center.
