Romain Sato scored a career-high 35 points Wednesday night to lead the
14th-ranked mens basketball team past La Salle University, 93-71. Xavier is now 10-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and 19-4 overall with five games remaining in the regular season.
As the regular season begins to wind down, Sato appears to be warming up. The junior guard from the Central African Republic hit five three-pointers in the game. That comes one game after he hit a school record nine three-pointers against Rhode Island University while on his way to scoring 34 points. In the last two games, hes scored 69 points and made 14 three-point shots.
Sato was not the only Musketeer who enjoyed a big night, though, as four players scored in double figures, including junior center Anthony Myles, who tied his career high for points with 17 to go with a career-high and game-high 12 rebounds. Senior guard Lionel Chalmers contributed 13 points and four assists, while senior All-American forward David West added 12 points to go with six rebounds, four assists, four blocks and two steals.
Xaviers next game will be a showdown for first place in the Atlantic 10 West Division at Dayton on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Dayton leads the A-10 West with an 11-1 record, while sporting a 19-4 overall mark. Daytons only A-10 blemish was an 85-77 setback at Xavier on February 8. Saturdays game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
