Six art students awarded Three Arts Scholarships
Awards help forward education in art, music and drama for junior and senior college women
06/01/05Six art students earned Three Arts Scholarships presented by the Cincinnati Women’s Club at a ceremony at the Kenwood Country Club on April 23. Their work was also highlighted at the event.
The recipients include junior Christina Blust from Dayton, Ky., who is studying graphic design; junior Ai-ling Chang from Louisville, Ky., who is studying photography, painting and sculpture; senior Tirzah DeCaria from Old Hickory, Tenn., who is studying sculpture; senior Elizabeth Kauffman from Ft. Wayne, Ind., who is studying painting; senior Sarah Plummer from Cincinnati who is studying printmaking; and junior Mercedes Tryba from Glenview, Ill., who is studying ceramics, fiber arts and graphic design.
The Three-Arts Scholarship Fund works to forward art education for junior and senior college women. Scholarships are awarded in three areas: art, music and drama.
“Xavier University's department of art is so grateful to the Cincinnati Women's Club for their continuing support,” says Marsha Karagheusian-Murphy, the department's chair. “The recognition and financial assistance for our junior and senior women art majors has been enormously helpful in the rising costs involved with the study of art.”
