Men's basketball knocks off Alabama, 68-47, to extend home win streak
Anthony Myles scores career high 19 points, while women's team loses despite Tara Boothe's double-double
01/05/04The mens basketball team knocked off the University of Alabama, 68-47, on Saturday, Jan. 3, to improve to 8-4 on the season and cap off the weekend in sports. Senior forward Anthony Myles collected a career-high 19 points and a game-high eight rebounds in the effort in front of a sold-out crowd of 10,250 in the Cintas Center. The win snapped a six-game winning streak for Alabama, which falls to 8-3 on the season. It entered the game coming off of a 71-56 win over No. 15-ranked Wisconsin.
The win for Xavier is its 14th straight at home, and its 16th in a row against a non-conference opponent in the Cintas Center. The team opens its Atlantic 10 Conference schedule on Sunday, Jan. 11, at the University of Rhode Island. Tip-off is at noon.
The womens basketball team didnt have a successful start to its conference schedule, losing over the weekend to George Washington University, 65-49, on Saturday in the Cintas Center.
Tara Boothe led the team with her fourth double-double of the year with 14 points and 12 rebounds. The team is now 8-4 on the year and 0-1 in the A-10, playing again tonight, Monday, Jan. 5, against the University of Richmond at 7:00 p.m. in the Cintas Center.
