Women’s basketball opens season against Central Connecticut

Xavier hosts Provident Bank Invitational at Cintas

The women’s basketball team hosts the Provident Bank Xavier Invitational at the Cintas Center this weekend, opening their season against Central Connecticut State University. The kick-off game begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. At 3 p.m., it’s St. Louis University against the University of Michigan. On Sunday, Dec. 8, the championship game will be held at 3 p.m., preceded by the consolation game at 1 p.m. All games take place at Cintas. Prior to the first game Saturday, Sandy “Spin” Slade, a world-renowned dribbler, will hold a free clinic for the first 100 children in grades 3 through 8, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All who participate receive a free game ticket and a chance to win gift certificates from Everybody’s Records, Skyline Chili, O’Bryon’s Irish Pub and other prizes.
