Xavier basketball takes down Purdue with 74-59 win
Lionel Chalmers scores a season-high 24 points; David West grabs team-high nine rebounds
The Xavier men boiled down Purdues defenses to win 74-59
last night at the Cintas Center. This is the first time the Musketeers have taken down the Boilermakers since 1947.
Senior Lionel Chalmers scored a season-high 24 points but missed his career high by two points as he went 8-for-11 from the field and was perfect in six attempts from the foul line. Senior David West added 18 points while grabbing a team-high nine rebounds for Xavier. Romain Sato had 10 points and six rebounds. Xavier shot 48.2 percent (27-of-56) for the game and held a 37-28 edge on the boards.
Xavier returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 4:00 p.m. in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Shootout against Cincinnati at the Shoemaker Center. The game airs on ESPN. Then the Musketeers return to the Cintas Center on Monday, Dec. 9, at 7:00 p.m. against the Miami University Redhawks. The game is being televised on Fox Sports Net Ohio.
