Xavier hosts 21-team men’s golf invitational at Kings Island
Tournament highlights light week on campus, which includes more sports, jazz, Take Back the Night

The mens golf team is back in town after a second-place finish last week in the 49er Collegiate Classic outside of Charlotte, N.C., this time hosting the annual Xaviers Provident Invitational. The 21-team tournament begins Monday, Oct. 13, at the Grizzly Tournament Course at The Golf Center at Kings Island. The two-day tournament features mens teams from across the nation as they battle for leadership on the 6,756 yard, par 71 course. The invitational tees off with 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes on Tuesday.Xavier is ranked No. 26 in the nation after winning one tournament and finished second in two others so far this year. The team average is 286 strokes per round, which is almost strokes below the team record of 295.37, and five Musketeers are averaging 72 or fewer strokes per round.
Indiana University shares the role of favorite with Xavier in the tournament. IU is No. 8 in the nation. The Hoosiers and Musketeers have played in two tournaments together, and each

Also Monday, student womens rights club Take Back the Night sponsors Real Women Have Curves at 9:00 p.m. This session is a celebration of Love Your Body Day, and it takes place in the Gallagher Student Center, Room 214.
Tuesday, Oct. 14, the men and womens tennis teams head to the courts to take on Indiana University/Purdue University-Fort Wayne for 2:30 p.m. matches.
Wednesday, Oct. 15, the weekly international coffee hour celebrates Indonesia. The coffee hour begins at 3:30 p.m. in the Gallagher Student Centers second-floor Faces of the World Lounge. For more information, call 513 745-2864 or e-mail kilgore@xu.edu.
Also Wednesday, the Xavier Players begin auditions for Toolbox, a student-performed improvisational show. Auditions start at 7:00 p.m. in the Kelley Auditorium. No preparation is needed. For more information, call 513 745-2030.
On Thursday, Oct. 16, the sorority of Sigma Gamma Rho offers a live jazz band on the ground level of the Gallagher Student Center. This coffee hour event offers students a chance to mingle. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
The swim teams travels to Indianapolis, Ind., to compete at Indiana University/Purdue University-Indianapolis at 6:00 p.m. The mens and womens teams both opened their seasons Saturday at the IUPUI invitational, and both finished a strong second out of six participating teams.
