Women's basketball schedule released for 2003-2004 season

Season includes ambitious non-conference schedule against Louisville, Michigan, Kentucky and Pitt

09/18/03

Second-year head coach Kevin McGuff has finalized the schedule for the 2003-2004 Xavier women's basketball team. McGuff leads his squad against five teams that participated in the 2003 postseason, and they will be featured twice on Atlantic 10 Television.

Xavier plays an ambitious 11-game nonconference schedule, battling schools from leagues like Conference USA, the Big East, the Big Ten and the Southeastern Conference.

"This is a schedule that will challenge our young team, but I believe it's one that will work to our advantage and help us get better from November to March," McGuff says. "We're very eager for our home schedule to start. We got unbelievable support from our fans last year. This year our fans our going to see some of the best teams we're going to play this year right here at the
Cintas Center."

Xavier opens the season on the road on Nov. 21 at the University of Louisville, a school the Musketeers last met in the 2001 NCAA Tournament at the Cintas Center. The team opens the home slate on Nov. 23 against Indiana University/Purdue University-Indianapolis, and one week later, on Nov. 30, hosts crosstown rival the University of Cincinnati, a club that advanced to the 2003 NCAA second round. The third annual Provident Bank Xavier Invitational is Dec. 6-7 and includes Central Michigan University, East Tennessee State University and High Point University.

Other games include the University of Kentucky on Dec. 10, the University of Michigan on Dec. 21 and the University of Pittsburgh on Dec. 28.

Season ticket packages for all 15 home games at the Cintas Center are $60. This is also the first year for the "Rivalry Pack." For $20, fans who purchase the pack get a ticket for the home games against Cincinnati, Dayton, George Washington and Temple.

Individual game tickets go on sale in late October. For more information on tickets, log on to www.xavier.edu or call the Xavier ticket office 513 745-3411.
