As the United States' war with Iraq continues, the University is offering activities, information and resources that relate to the conflict. Events taking place this week include:
Rosary making for the military
Requests have been made to provide 300,000 rosaries for members of the military, and members of the University community are gathering on campus to contribute to this effort. Everyone is welcome to join the effort on Thursday, April 24, from 7:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. in the Gallagher Student Center, Room 330. No experience is necessary. Materials and instructions are provided. Experienced rosary makers will be there to assist. For questions, please contact Evelyn Brannen at 513 745-2963 or e-mail
Brannen@xu.edu.
Silent peace vigil
A silent peace vigil is taking place on the X on the academic mall daily in response to the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities' appeal to Jesuit institutions to engage in prayers for peace. The vigils are intended to witness Christ's message of peace and the possibility that humanity can creatively envision ways to resolve conflict without violence. The vigil times are: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:20 p.m.-12:30 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 12:45 p.m.-1:00 p.m. For more information, contact programs in peace and justice at ext. 3046 or Tom Sheibley at
